A magnitude-6.9 earthquake hit Hualien County in China's Taiwan region at a depth of 10 km on Sunday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).

The rescue efforts of the Hualien County Fire Department and Police are underway. Four residents who were trapped in one collapsed convenience store in Yuli Township have been rescued.
