The 2022 ASEAN Media Partners Forum, co-sponsored by China Media Group (CMG) and the government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, was held on Thursday to help promote media exchanges and cooperation between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Around 180 Chinese and foreign guests from more than 70 media organizations and institutions in 17 countries engaged in the forum themed "Intelligence, Collaboration, Cohesion" in Nanning City, capital of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

During his speech at the opening ceremony, Lan Tianli, chairman of the region, said Guangxi is ready to work with media of other countries to help build China-ASEAN cooperation mechanisms and enhance policy alignment.

Lan said Chinese and ASEAN media should jointly spread the common values of mankind, deepen exchanges and mutual learning, expand cooperation, and provide strong cultural and public opinion support for building an even closer China-ASEAN community of shared future.

Noting that the forum is a new form of media exchange and cooperation with ASEAN countries, Yan Xiaoming, vice president of CMG, said, "We should carry forward our friendship, serve as a bridge for people-to-people exchanges, cultural exchanges and practical cooperation between China and ASEAN and promote exchanges and mutual learning among human civilizations."

During the opening ceremony, CMG and ASEAN media organizations launched a new round of cooperation. The Asia-Africa center of CMG will use its multilingual resources to attract talent from China and ASEAN, cultivate new media talent and build an incubation base for Generation Z online celebrities.

CMG's international video communication center will also strengthen its cooperation with ASEAN media by creating a column, publishing important video news content about China and ASEAN and telling stories about China-ASEAN cooperation.

The China-ASEAN media port and the CMG Guangxi headquarters were officially inaugurated at the forum.

As an important part of the strategic cooperation between the two sides, the China-ASEAN media port will become a base of the media industry chain for ASEAN and form a new platform for regional international communication.
