China hosted the 2022 Tourism Ministers' meeting of the five major emerging economies known as BRICS on Monday in Guilin City, South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Tourism is essential to BRICS cooperation and plays a vital role in encouraging BRICS countries' growth.

Focusing on the theme of "Green Growth, Sustainable Development, and Resilient Recovery," Hu Heping, China's Minister of Culture and Tourism, moderated the gathering and delivered the keynote speech. Minister of Brazilian Ministry of Tourism Carlos Brito, Head of the Russia Federal Agency for Tourism Zarina Doguzova, Minister of Tourism and Culture for India G. Kishan Reddy and South Africa Department of Tourism Lindiwe Sisulu attended the meeting via video.
"BRICS tourism is facing challenges caused by the pandemic. It is our mission and responsibility to use the ministerial meetings to help facilitate the recovery of the tourism sector in BRICS countries," said Hu.
According to Hu, the BRICS countries are the world's fastest-growing and most dynamic emerging market countries as well as representatives of developing countries today.
Hu advocated that the BRICS countries strengthen their tourism cooperation mechanism and adhere to innovation, openness, and inclusivity. The meeting recognized the achievements of BRICS tourism cooperation in previous years. It agreed on the significance of resuming tourism growth and boosting the number of mutual tourist visits.
The participants also issued the Communiqué of the BRICS Tourism Ministers' Meeting 2022. The document calls for strengthening dialogue and cooperation mechanisms among governments, enterprises, institutions, industry organizations, and other stakeholders.
