Britain lifts ban on fracking for shale gas

The United Kingdom on Thursday formally lifted a moratorium imposed in 2019 on fracking for shale gas, saying strengthening the country's energy supply was an "absolute priority."

Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Jacob Rees-Mogg said all sources of energy needed to be explored, "so it's right that we've lifted the pause to realize any potential sources of domestic gas."
