About 300 monkeys were spotted on September 17 swimming across a river in the Longhu Mountain Scenic Area, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The large troop was seen jumping into the water and rushing to the other side, paying no attention to startled tourists on a bamboo raft. After reaching the bank, which belongs to another troop, they quickly left the area.

According to staff members in the scenic area, there are four monkey troops in the area, and the swimmers are all in the same group. They suspected that the alpha male wants to expand his troop's territory, so took his followers on a reconnaissance mission.
