The United Arab Emirates and Germany on Sunday signed a new Energy Security and Industry Accelerator (ESIA) Agreement during German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's visit to the UAE.

The agreement will accelerate projects of joint interest between the two countries in energy security, decarburization and climate action, the Emirates News Agency reported.

As part of the agreement, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company will provide an LNG cargo for delivery in late 2022, to be used in the commissioning of Germany's floating LNG import terminal at Brunsbüttel, a port in north Germany.

Scholz arrived at Doha, Qatar on Sunday in an effort to seek energy cooperation with the oil-rich country as Germany is facing energy crisis due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
