China on Saturday reiterated its firm support for Egypt's pursuit of national rejuvenation and search for a development path in accordance with the country's own realities.
Chinese President Xi Jinping and his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah al-Sisi have maintained close communication, providing potent strategic guidance for the relations between their countries, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at a meeting with Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on the sidelines of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.
The two countries fought hand in hand against the COVID-19 pandemic and promoted one another's development through cooperation, pushing the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership to strong development momentum, Wang said.
He said China is willing to deepen win-win cooperation, strengthen unity on regional and international affairs and defend mutual interests with Egypt.
Confirming that the two countries have always maintained mutual respect, mutual trust and mutual support, Shoukry said Egypt is proud of having such strong relations with China.
He said Egypt firmly supports the one-China policy and opposes any moves that violate its principles.
Egypt also backs the appropriate measures China takes to defend its sovereignty and objects to the making of anti-China camps as well as the manufacturing of confrontations, Shoukry added.
