10 killed as vehicle falls into pond in north India

Ten people, including eight women and two children, died, and nearly 37 others were injured when a vehicle fell into a pond in India's northern state of Uttar Pradesh on Monday, a local police officer said.

The mishap occurred in the state capital Lucknow when the driver lost control of the vehicle, the police officer told Xinhua over the phone.
