South Korea fully lifted its outdoor mask mandate on Monday as COVID-19 loosens its grip.

However, indoor mask wearing will remain in place to curb the possible risk of seasonal influenza and other infectious diseases, and masks are still advised for certain groups of people, such as those suspected to have COVID-19 symptoms, according to Yonhap News Agency.

Previously, wearing face masks was mandatory at outdoor gatherings of 50 people or more and large-scale events such as sports tournaments and concerts. Those who violated the rules were fined.

The country on Monday reported 14,168 new COVID-19 infections, the lowest daily cases in over two months.
