NASA's DART spaceship struck the moonlet asteroid Dimorphos on Monday in a test of humanity's ability to prevent a cosmic object from devastating life on Earth. The impact took place at 7:14 p.m. EDT (2314 GMT) when the spacecraft was traveling at approximately 22,400 km per hour.
