M6.8 quake hits east of South Sandwich Islands: USGS

A magnitude-6.8 earthquake hit the east of the South Sandwich Islands region at a depth of 10 kilometers, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said on Thursday.

No tsunami warning was issued, USGS added.
