Officials say China's foreign diplomacy is based on promoting a fair and equitable global governance and protecting its territorial integrity. Dong Xue reports.

Senior Chinese officials talked to the media about the country's foreign diplomacy over the past decade. They said China's efforts to promote global governance is not to re-invent the wheel, but to make it more just and equitable.

Deputy foreign minister Ma Zhaoxu also emphasized that safeguarding China's territorial integrity is at the core of its foreign policy.

MA ZHAOXU, China's Deputy Foreign Minister "China's diplomacy in action has been against those who try to sabotage its core interests. What we defend is our own legitimate rights and interests, oppose hegemony and bullying, and advocate international fairness and justice."

Ma also said China has continued to contribute to world peace and global development and building a shared community for mankind.

MA ZHAOXU, China's Deputy Foreign Minister "As a permanent member of the UN Security council, China has sent over 50,000 peacekeepers, and is now the second largest financial contributor to both the United Nations and UN peacekeeping missions."

China has seen dramatic changes that have shaped it into the country it has become today, since the 18th Communist Party of China National Congress in 2012. Chinese president Xi Jinping has proposed the Global Development Initiative, as well as the Global Security Initiative, both of which help China contribute into global governance by bringing developing countries together and promote peaceful development.
