At least 45 people have died in Florida since Hurricane Ian hit the southern U.S. state, CNN reported on Friday. 

Hurricane Ian has been downgraded to a post-tropical cyclone after slamming into South Carolina on Friday afternoon, making another landfall after a deadly march across Florida that washed away houses and stranded thousands.

The cyclone brought strong winds and storm surges, amid reports of property damage, power outages and water-rescue calls as officials across the state continued to issue dire warnings to residents to stay inside.
