In Burkina Faso, the country's coup leader-turned-president, Lieutenant Colonel Damiba, has been overthrown. Gunshots were heard in the capital, and access to the presidential palace, the television station and certain strategic points in the city were blocked by soldiers. The army seized control of state television late Friday, with Captain Ibrahim Traore declared the new leader of the West African country.
