Arsenal remained the leading club of Premier League after defeating Tottenham Hotspur 3-1 at home on Saturday. Though it was only the first win of "The Gunners" over one of the Big Six teams, Arsenal still showed a lot of surprising improvement.
In the years when Arsene Wenger was their manager, Arsenal often had a great start of the season but habitually crumbled in February or March. Wenger left in 2018. The club remained mediocre after that, before Mikel Arteta took over in 2019 and spent three years getting Arsenal back on their feet again. Can he help Arsenal avoid repeating history this season?
Though Arsenal have never been one of the biggest spending clubs in Premier League, their investment during the summer transfer window worked. Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko, who collectively cost the club over 90 million euros to land, have been performing well. Will that convince Arsenal's top office to spend more when the winter transfer window opens?
