The Russian Constitutional Court approved a package of documents on the admission of the Luhansk, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions into the Russian Federation, TASS news agency reported on Sunday.
The court said Luhansk and Donetsk will become part of Russia as republics, while Kherson and Zaporizhzhia are considered to be accepted into the Russian Federation as separate entities with their current names, the TASS report said.
A transitional period is set for the four regions after joining Russia and is valid until January 1, 2026, according to the rulings of the Constitutional Court.
