A constant stream of orders for FIFA World Cup paraphernalia is inundating Yiwu City on the eve of the quadrennial sports extravaganza that kicks off in Qatar in November. According to the Yiwu Sports and Fitness Products Industry Association, the city exported 3.82 billion yuan ($536.8 million) worth of sporting goods and 9.66 billion yuan (about $1.36 billion) in toys in the first eight months of 2022.

Yiwu produces approximately 70 percent of all FIFA World Cup paraphernalia for the international market.
