Wanshi Ferry is the last ferry crossing Suzhou Creek between Wanshi Village and Qisheng Highway. It's located at the intersection of Shanghai and Kunshan in Jiangsu Province. Several older ferrymen have been shuttling residents across for decades, but bridge projects have gradually made the ten existing ferries obsolete, including this one, which will soon be "retired." By documenting their lives and work and listening to their stories about the river, this video shows how development affects the ancient ferry culture and economy.
