Medog County, isolated deep in the Himalayas in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region, will soon have its first loop road, following the completion of the main section of the second passageway on October 1 after eight years of construction. Medog was once known as China's last roadless county due to its complicated geological conditions. However, its isolation ended in October 2013 with the opening of a highway linking its neighboring Bome County in Tibet.
