The 2022 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine has been awarded to Svante Pääbo, the Nobel Assembly at Sweden's Karolinska Institute announced on Monday. Pääbo's research led to the creation of a new scientific field called "paleogenomics," and "provided the basis for exploring what makes us uniquely human," according to the assembly.
