China has allocated more than 17.2 billion yuan ($2.41 billion) to building and transforming facilities for the elderly since its 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025). By the end of 2021, 21.323 million low-income elderly people had received social assistance, while 3.71 million had been included in special hardship relief and support.
