As of Tuesday, at least 109 people have died as a result of Hurricane Ian, including 105 in Florida, CNN has reported.

Over 400,000 customers in Florida were still without power as of Tuesday evening, days after the Category 4 hurricane made landfall there, and many Floridians have found themselves homeless, according to CNN.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said during a news conference Tuesday that rescues have been made and 79,000 structures have been checked.

The hurricane had also cost huge economic damage, with Moody's Analytics estimating that initial damage in Florida ranged from $45 billion to $55 billion; while the property damage in Florida was $60 billion according to the Washington Post.

The third-quarter economic growth in Florida and South Carolina is expected to be slashed, according to Oxford Economics.

At present, hurricane Ian is considered the 25th deadliest hurricane in the United States, according to data collected by the country's National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration on Tuesday.

Ian made landfall in southwest Florida on September 28 and devastated the state with massive storm surges, torrential rain, catastrophic winds and deadly flooding.
