A majestic rainbow appeared over the renowned Hukou Waterfall on the Yellow River in northwest China's Shaanxi Province during the National Day holiday, creating an awe-inspiring scenery for scores of visitors. Located at the intersection of the Yellow River and the Qinjin Grand Canyon, the waterfall has reduced sediment and increased water flow. As the water from the Yellow River splashed up, a spectacular rainbow formed under the sunshine, compelling many tourists to take photos. Sitting on the border between north China's Shanxi Province and northwest China's Shaanxi Province, the Hukou Waterfall is the largest waterfall along the Yellow River, the mother river of the Chinese nation. Its name, which means "mouth of a kettle" in Chinese, derives from its resemblance to water being poured down from a huge kettle.
