Hongze Lake in Jiangsu Province is China's fourth-largest freshwater lake, boasting wetlands that cover about 23,000 hectares. It shelters over 200 bird and 68 fish species, among myriad other flora and fauna. Due to the high water quality and rich ecological environment, the wetlands are an "avian paradise" where more than 500,000 migratory birds have stopped over as of March 2022.
