A former policeman killed at least 38 people, including 24 children, in a gun and knife attack at a daycare center in northeast Thailand's Nong Bua Lamphu Province on Thursday, later shooting dead his wife and child at their home before turning his weapon on himself, police said.
Police identified the attacker as a former member of the force who was dismissed from his post last year over drug allegations, according to Reuters.
Twelve others were injured in the attack, including eight critically.
The motive for the attack is not yet known.
