Three people were killed in the Crimean bridge explosion, Russia's investigative committee said on Saturday following a preliminary investigation.

It said the victims were likely to be "passengers of a car that was near the truck that exploded," according to a statement from the committee.

Two bodies, one male and one female, were pulled from the waters and their identities are being established.

The Russian investigators have also established the details of the truck and its owner, registered in Russia's southern Krasnodar region, and have begun searching his place of residence, it added.

The huge blast that also brought down part of the bridge's roadway had occurred at around 6 a.m. (0300 GMT), cutting down traffic.

A report from the Interfax news agency on Saturday said railway traffic on the damaged road-and-rail bridge will resume at 8 p.m. (1700 GMT), citing Russia's transport ministry.
