Shengou Village is located in the Baishuijiang Giant Panda Reserve in Northwest China's Gansu Province. The development of the village's economy is subject to various restrictive measures under ecological conservation. Local villagers are encouraged to develop eco-friendly industries, such as beekeeping and growing walnut trees. Although the whole village has now been lifted out of poverty, achieving rural revitalization is challenging and time-consuming. As a young native, Zhou Chaoquan established a cooperative to help the villagers raise bees. He also works in the reserve year-round, patrolling and monitoring the mountains with the protection team. It seems hard to have both ecological protection and economic development done, but Zhou proves that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets."
