Despite his disability, Li Jun jumped into a river and saved a drowning mother and daughter in May 2022. A coach from the Suzhou Disabled Persons' Federation recognized his talent and trained him to compete. He won a silver and a bronze in the 11th Jiangsu Provincial Games for the Disabled held in September in Taizhou, east China's Jiangsu Province.
