Residents of the Crimean Peninsula drove to gas stations to fill up causing long lines of traffic, following the massive explosion on the Crimean bridge on October 8. Crimea's Chief Executive Sergei Aksyonov and Sevastopol governor Mikhail Razvozhaev said within hours after the explosion that, even if fuel shipments to Crimea are stopped, the reserves on the peninsula can be sustained for more than a month.
Public order has returned to normal after a brief panic. Supermarkets in Sevastopol are also normal, with no serious panic buying. The local governments of Crimea and Sevastopol also announced that the prosecutors will monitor speculation and price levels in real-time to guard against any misconduct. The railway bridge traffic resumed a few hours after the explosion of the Crimean bridge. At the same time, the government has urgently addressed the issue of accommodation for those forced to stay, and the cost of accommodation will be covered by the local government budget.
