Three Chinese forest musk deer have been captured on infrared cameras wandering and foraging in different areas of the Ailao Mountains National Nature Reserve in southwest China's Yunnan Province.

Staff at the Ailao Mountains National Nature Reserve found three video clips with the animal after they collected the infrared cameras installed in the reserve for wildlife monitoring.

We found three video clips of the Chinese forest musk deer. The footage was shot in different areas, and judging from their body types and sizes, they are not the same deer, said He Zaipeng, who works at the nature reserve.

The Chinese forest musk deer is an animal under first-class state protection in China, and it is also listed as an endangered species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List.

Experts note that the deer are timid and solitary, so their appearance in the reserve indicates that the environment of the reserve is favorable for their habitation.
