A former Chinese ambassador to the UK's book of detailed interviews with Western media has been released in Beijing.

Liu Xiaoming served as the Chinese ambassador to the UK from 2010 to 2021 and was appointed as China's Special Representative on Korean Peninsula Affairs after he finished his tenure in the UK. 

The book "Sharp Dialogue," written by Liu, contains more than 30 interviews he had on British television and radio.

The stories focus on major events in the second decade of the 21st century, including Chinese President Xi Jinping's state visit to the UK, and other issues, such as the national security law for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the COVID-19 pandemic and Sino-Japanese relations.

As China's diplomat, Liu emphasized the importance of making China's opinions heard and expressed his hope that the book will help overseas audiences better understand the real China.
