China and Germany have deepened cooperation in various fields of economic development. China has long been an important investment destination for Germany, and a major source of fine and inexpensive goods. According to German Federal Statistical Office, China has been Germany's largest trading partner for six consecutive years. Prosperous economic cooperation benefits both sides. The market share of the German manufacturing industry and automobile sector in China has supported the competitiveness of Germany's pillar industries in the international market.
Despite the pandemic, German companies, such as the multinational pump manufacturer Wilo, are still confident about doing business in China. According to a Business Confidence Survey released by the German Chamber of Commerce in China earlier this year, almost 60 percent of the 596 member companies reported improved business operations, and more than half continue to expect improvements in their industry in China in 2022.
