China to unswervingly promote high-level opening-up: Foreign Ministry spokesperson

Currently, the world economy is facing multiple challenges including unilateralism and protectionism. China will firmly support economic globalization and unswervingly promote high-level opening-up, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at a regular presser on Wednesday.

Recently, Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said in an interview that Serbia's exports to China have grown 152 times over the past decade. China has been dedicated to high level opening-up which brings opportunities of development to the world. 

Despite the impact of COVID-19, bilateral trade exchanges between the two countries were nearly five billion euros last year, Brnabic added in the interview.

In response, Mao said that the two countries are trustworthy and reliable partners. The trade and economy cooperation between the two sides has been advancing by leaps and bounds, bring tangible benefits to the two people.

Besides Serbia, China is also a major trading partner of over 130 countries and regions, Mao added.

"In the past decade, China's total trade in goods hit 262.3 trillion yuan ($36.58 trillion), of which imports were 117.6 trillion yuan, with an average annual growth rate of 4.7 percent. China's accumulated foreign capital utilization is $1.2 trillion, with an average annual growth rate of 5 percent. The stock of China's overseas investment has grown from less than $0.6 trillion to over $2.7 trillion, ranking third in the world," she said.

China will provide more market opportunities, investment opportunities and growth opportunities to companies from different countries, Mao added.
