More than 13 hectares of Kochia have entered harvest season in Liulin County of Lyuliang City, north China's Shanxi Province. The plant is also known as the "burning bush" for its dark red color in autumn. Famers in the Caojiagou Village have been busy reaping the plant to make brooms for sale. The Kochia growing business has become a major industry for the village. The business brings an annual output worth 600,000 yuan, or 84,000 U.S. dollars, and has doubled the villagers' income.
