Of all the painters in the long history of China, Zheng Banqiao in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) is believed to have been renowned for his paintings of bamboo. He was good at expressing the theme of his works better by integrating painting with poetry and the painting scroll titled "Bamboo and Stone" is a masterpiece falling within this scope. Based on the perfect integration of martial performance and the art of ancient Chinese musical instrument the guqin, the large-scale cultural program "China in Poetry and Painting" launched by China Media Group fully interprets the ideorealm of the traditional Chinese ink painting and the characters of bamboo highly praised by Zheng via his brush.
