In the southwest of Niger, near Gaya, on the border with Benin, the continent's nearly 2,000-kilometer-long cross-border oil pipeline is taking shape. The pipeline will connect the oil wells of the Agadem deposit, in the extreme east of Niger, to the Beninese port of Sèmè. This oil pipeline is the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC)'s largest independent investment and implemented Belt and Road Initiative project.
