Autumn is brief and beautiful in northeast China's Greater Xing'an Range. When the first snows fall in the forest in mid-September, its animal residents know it's time to start preparing for the long winter ahead. Meanwhile, just west of the Greater Xing'an Range, Hulun Lake is already beginning to freeze. It's time for the migratory whooper swans and mute swans to resume their southbound journey to warmer climes!
