Cave houses were created by residents of the Loess Plateau, and having succumbed to the lure of the loess culture, more and more people came to visit Longwangba Village in Xiji County. It is located in a contiguous poor area in the Liupan Mountains of northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, which was rated as a key poverty-relief area by the local government. In 2010, Jiao Jianpeng, a businessman in the county, went back to the village and started a business. He noticed that the village is rich in landscape resources and folk cultures. In Jiao's opinion, it is a good way to develop rural tourism and leisure agriculture since this can lift the villagers out of poverty.
