Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday sent a message of condolence to Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari over a recent boat accident in Nigeria.
Xi said he was shocked to learn of the boat accident, which caused major casualties. On behalf of the Chinese government and people and in his own name, Xi expressed deep condolences for the victims and sincere sympathies to the bereaved families.
A passenger boat carrying 85 people capsized in the Ogbaru area of Anambra State on October 7, following rising floods in that area. President Buhari on Sunday confirmed that at least 76 people were killed.
