Southwest China's Chengdu has launched the first-ever Chengdu-Europe-Africa rail-sea multimodal transport line.
The freight train, carrying mostly local products like textiles, left Chengdu at 10 a.m. on Saturday. It will first arrive in Hamburg, Germany via the China-Europe Railway Express. Then it will travel by sea to its final destination Casablanca, Morocco. The whole journey is estimated to last around 35 days.
In 2021, the China-Europe freight train services saw rapid growth amid safe and smooth operation, with the number of trips hitting 15,000 last year, according to China State Railway Group Co., Ltd.
