Xu Dan gave up the chance to pursue a PhD in the Netherlands to help build up China's modern agriculture industry.
When he was 29, Xu set up a modern glass greenhouse in a mountain village in Miyun District on the outskirts of Beijing. He used technology and digital management to grow tomatoes and other vegetables.
Over the past four years, he has achieved remarkable results. The project has solved farming employment issues in several nearby villages. It has also attracted many like-minded youngsters to help contribute to China's modern agricultural development.
