At least eight people were killed and 18 others injured in explosions at Yangon's Insein prison in Myanmar, an information team for the country's military authorities said in a statement on Wednesday.

Three prison staff and a 10-year-old girl were among those dead when at least two bombs exploded near a crowd queuing to drop off parcels for inmates, the statement said, adding that security forces had defused another "homemade mine" found nearby.
