Russia has claimed foiling an attempt by the Ukrainian armed forces to seize the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, RIA news agency reported on Wednesday, citing Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the military-civilian administration of the region.
Ukrainian troops on at least 30 boats tried to land in the city of Energodar to capture the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, Rogov said.
Ukrainian troops attacked the administration of Energodar by using HIMARS, and the bridge at the city entrance and the Luch substation were also damaged, according to local authorities.
Ukraine has not yet responded to the claim.
