"Non-interference in each other's internal affairs is the common consensus of political parties in all countries and basic norm of governing international relations. It's also the preconditions for political parties to maintain their independence," said Shen Beili, vice minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, at a press conference in Beijing on Thursday.

Shen made the remarks in response to a question from a CGTN reporter on how the Party handles the relationship between non-interference into each others' internal affairs and mutual respect. She made it clear that the CPC neither lectures other political parties on their internal affairs nor demands others to copy its practice.

The media conference was hosted by the Press Center for the 20th CPC National Congress on the topic "Under the Guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, Forge Ahead and Strive to Break New Ground for Major-Country Diplomacy with Chinese Characteristics."
