During the past decade, the Chinese government has been working hard to ensure residents not just a place to live in, but also a better housing environment. To boost the development of the rental market, Shanghai has provided some 150 land parcels designated for residential leasing, with gross floor space totaling 10 million square meters, to real estate developers since the 13th Five-Year Period.
