China are in Group D in the FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand in 2023 and will face England, Denmark and a qualification playoff winner, according to the draw results on Saturday.

For the first time in history, there will be 32 teams participating in the Women's World Cup between July 20 and August 20, 2023. So far, 29 teams have secured qualification for the tournament. The three berths left will go to the winners of the following three groups of competitions:

In Group A, Cameroon will play against Thailand on February 18, 2023, and the winner between the two will challenge Portugal on November 22, 2023, for a berth.

In Group B, Senegal will play against Haiti on February 18, 2023 and the winner between the two will challenge Chile on November 22, 2023, for a berth.

In Group C, Chinese Taipei will play against Paraguay while Papua New Guinea play against Panama on February 19, 2023. The two winning teams will compete with each other on November 23, 2023, for a berth.

The final winners of Group A, B and C playoff competitions above will go to Group E, D and F respectively for the World Cup next year.

In the last edition of the tournament in France in 2019, China advanced to the knockout stage as third of Group B behind Germany and Spain. Then China lost to Italy 2-0 in the Round of 16 game.

China's best record at the Women's World Cup was the runners-up in 1999 in the U.S. They lost to USA in a shootout in the final.
