Tong Zhaohui, a member of the Communist Party of China (CPC), is the director of the Beijing Institute of Respiratory Medicine and vice president of Beijing Chaoyang Hospital. He was among the first batch of respiratory and critical illness experts who arrived in Wuhan to assist local doctors in their fight against COVID-19.

Dr Tong has been working in the respiratory illness and critical care field for 33 years. He has always been on the frontline treating critically ill patients. Every time he saves a patient's life, Dr Tong is satisfied and happy. He is an inspiration to all doctors with his commitment to saving lives.
