Xi Jinping delivered a report at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC). In his report, Xi pointed out that Chinese modernization is the modernization of a huge population, of common prosperity for all, of material and cultural-ethical advancement, of harmony between humanity and nature and of peaceful development. As the largest developing country and the largest socialist country in the world, the Chinese path to modernization has profound significance for global development and far-reaching impact on human progress.

The Chinese path to modernization illustrates Chinese characteristics. It is a modernization under the leadership of the CPC, a modernization in which 1.4 billion Chinese people share the fruits of reform, construction and development, and a modernization in which people have a sense of gain, happiness and security. In the history of world modernization, there has never been a country like China that has achieved modernization with such a large population. Therefore, China's modernization process attracts worldwide attention.

In its own unique way, which is different from that of Western countries, China has rewritten the methods and models of human modernization and created a modernization miracle with Chinese characteristics. The successful practice of the Chinese path to modernization shows the world that the roads to modernization are diverse rather than single, and there is no one-size-fits-all standard for modernization. Every country has the right to choose its own path to modernization in light of its national conditions, and no country should impose its own model on others.

The Chinese path to modernization contains Chinese values. It fully demonstrates the value concept and ideal pursuit of Chinese excellent traditional culture, such as "people-oriented," "harmony between man and nature," "the whole world as one community," and "peace among all nations," and has profound historical and cultural heritage.

Common prosperity is the essential requirement of socialism, the true embodiment of the idea of people-centered development, and an important feature of the Chinese path to modernization. Only when the material and spiritual lives of all people are constantly improved can we form a strong driving force for socialist modernization, promote all-round economic and social progress, and truly realize the long-term goal of socialist modernization. China has always been striving to make sure that no one is left behind on the road to modernization, which is in sharp contrast to the capital-based modernization in the West, where only a small number of people gain the greatest benefits.

China advocates a community of harmony between humanity and nature. The Chinese people have always valued the idea that human beings are an integral part of nature and should follow the laws of nature. The Chinese path to modernization is not a modernization that destroys and pollutes the environment, or consumes resources without restraint. Instead, it is a modernization that fully embodies resource conservation, environmental friendliness, green, low-carbon and sustainable development. The modernization of Western developed countries was achieved through excessive exploitation of natural resources and large-scale destruction of the ecological environment, which encroached on the development space of modernization in developing countries, and left serious consequences to the whole world.

China has valued peace and cooperation since ancient times, and the thoughts and behaviors of the Chinese people reflect their peace-loving nature. It took only a few decades for China to make brilliant achievements in its modernization because China has firmly adhered to the theme of the times and followed the path of peaceful development. Xi Jinping has proposed important ideas and initiatives such as a global community of shared future, a new model of international relations, and the Belt and Road Initiative, which have brought about close and positive interactions between China and the world. By constantly integrating into the world, expanding opening-up and promoting cooperation, the Chinese path to modernization has formed strong attraction and influence, and has continuously injected positive energy into world peace and development.

The Chinese path to modernization provides Chinese solutions. How China will achieve modernization is not only a question for China itself, but also for the world. With its unique modernization model and spillover effects, the theory and practice of the Chinese path to modernization provide a new paradigm for global governance. The Chinese path to modernization is of great significance to other developing countries. It has opened up new avenues for them to pursue modernization and provided new options for those countries who want to accelerate development while maintaining their independence.

The Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative proposed by Xi Jinping represent China's wisdom to help people of other countries explore a path of modernization suited to their national conditions and promote global development and world peace. China is ready to work with the international community to jointly promote the common values of peace, development, equity, justice, democracy and freedom for all mankind, for the purpose of creating a better future for all.
