In Chinese culture, water represents a series of philosophical concepts. "The wise find pleasure in water," and "The highest good is like water" - the respective sayings of ancient sages Confucius and Lao Zi, the two most famous philosophers in Chinese history, highlight the deep respect for water's symbolic meaning among Chinese literati of yore. Concentrating on the quiet, rolling or surging waves of lakes and rivers, Ma Yuan, the acclaimed Song dynasty landscape painter, presented a monologue-like visual interpretation of water in his work "Water Studies." Through the innovative expression of underwater dance, the program "China in Poetry and Painting" by China Media Group places the scrolls underwater, allowing the audience to immerse themselves in the artistic water world of Ma Yuan's painting.
