A groundbreaking ceremony was held on Thursday morning for the cross-sea Davao-Samal Island bridge.
Officials in attendance included Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. and Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian.
China and the Philippines signed a contract in 2021 to build the bridge in Davao City in the southern Philippines.
The 3.86-km four-lane bridge will connect the Island Garden City of Samal to Davao City across the Pakiputan Strait.
